Is this hiking on the Appalachian Trail? Somewhere else in the "Mountains?" Or just somewhere close to home.
I always enjoyed the fall and the spring the best when I was out that way. I told Justin before but in the spring you should consider a drive to Honaker, VA. It would take up the majority of a day but I still think it would be worth it. Honaker is the Red Bud capitol of the world and the drive into town (don't blink or you'll miss the town) is lined with Red Buds on either side of the road.
I think you will understand the impact of this when spring rolls around and you see some Red Buds in bloom (you will see them in red and white but they are both Red Bud trees.). The site of Red Buds in bloom is still one of my favorite images from my mission. I will have to scan a couple of photo's I have and email them to you.
